Configuring Cluster Redundancy

You can enable or disable Cluster redundancy for an active Cluster.
When you enable redundancy, the management server attempts to assign a Gateway as redundant. It finds a Gateway that:
- Does not have Agents
- Is active
The management server will select the Active Cluster Manager as the redundant Gateway only if there are no other Gateways that fit the above criteria (to avoid creating noise in the Cluster).
When you disable redundancy, the redundant gateway becomes a member gateway. Thereafter, if a gateway fails, its Agents become unassigned. When you subsequently enable redundancy, the management server attempts to assign a Gateway as redundant.
If you enable redundancy and there is no available Gateway, the redundancy check box is still checked. You can complete the process by adding a new Gateway, or by removing the Agents from an existing Gateway, deactivating it and then reactivating it.
To configure Cluster redundancy:
- In the Main workspace, select Setup > Cluster Management.
- Select the Cluster for which you want to configure redundancy.
- Click Configure Redundancy. The Configure Cluster Redundancy dialog opens.
- Check or uncheck Redundancy, then click Save.
- If your Cluster is configured for manual capacity management, verify that the Gateway has no Agents registered to it. For more information, see Moving Agents. If your Cluster is configured for automatic capacity management, you can skip this step.
- Disable and enable the Gateway. For more information, see Disabling/Enabling a Gateway.
