      Configuring and Activating a Cluster

       Configuring and Activating a Cluster

Before a new Cluster can begin operations, you must configure and activate the Cluster. Also, during Cluster operations, you can configure the Cluster to accommodate changes in your setup, for example, you may want to change the Capacity of the Gateways, or change the Manager Gateways.

In order to successfully activate the Cluster, the following conditions must be met:

      • There are two Managers
      • All subnet fields were filled (if fails, no other validations are run)
      • Subnet fields are valid
      • Both Gateways are fully configured (Cluster IP, CIDR and port). The port defined by <cluster_port> must be open on all Gateways in the Cluster. The Cluster port should be the same for all Gateways in the Cluster.
      • Passwords of the Gateways (for Agent communication) match
      • Each Gateway has an Agent listener
      • In dual network topology, Gateways' Agent listeners are not in the Cluster subnet
      • Gateways' Agents listeners are in the Agents subnet
      • Gateways' Cluster IPs are in the Cluster subnet
      • Gateways' IPs are in the Management subnet
      • In Single Network Topology, all 3 networks have the same interface
      • In Dual - Separate Cluster Network topology, Agents and Management networks have the same interface and Cluster network has a different interface
      • In Dual - Separate Agents Network topology, Cluster and Management networks have the same interface and Agents network has a different interface

To configure and activate a Cluster:

      1. Select Main > Setup > Cluster Management.
      2. In the navigation pane on the left, select the MX server.
      3. In the Gateway Groups tab, check the box next to the new Cluster.
      4. Click Configure. The Configure Cluster dialog appears.

        Configure Cluster Dialog

      5. Configure the parameters in accordance with the table below.
      6. Click Save. or Save and Activate. The Cluster is configured and, if you clicked Save and Activate, is activated.

Note: You cannot activate a Cluster unless there are two Gateways running, assigned as Manager 1 and Manager 2.
